MEASUREMENT / PARTICIPATION

Do not make one word stand for the whole journey

Participation and redemption are often used for different events. Define them before reporting so that a message, a claim, access, and card use are not counted as the same achievement.

Name the stage you observe

A Shopify incentive program may not require a claim step. Use the stages of the actual program and the evidence that is available, not an assumed funnel.

Participation
Completion of a specifically defined program action by an eligible person.
Claim completion
Completion of an applicable step required to receive an approved benefit; not present in every program.
Access
The recipient reaching the available benefit through the program’s access process.
Card use
Use of the card as reflected in the relevant authorized program information.
Repeat purchase
A later purchase from the Shopify store, observed separately from card use.

Read gaps as customer questions

If recipients reach one stage but not the next, consider whether the explanation, expected timing, or support path is unclear. A message marked sent does not establish that a person received or understood it.

Make successful access the service objective

Customers who meet the offer should understand how to obtain their benefit. Do not design reporting around celebrating non-use. Assess unresolved questions and access difficulty alongside the intended commercial result.

MAKE THE BRIEF SPECIFIC

Plan the Shopify incentive around a real customer action.

Bring the commercial objective, eligible purchase, customer promise, and unresolved operating questions. Start with the channel that fits your next step.
