Begin with a measurable question
For a Shopify retention offer, ask whether the defined audience made relevant later purchases during the observation period. For a launch, ask how the promoted products performed. Card distribution alone cannot answer either question.
| Layer | What it tells you | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Program progress | Qualification, approval, and access activity | That the incentive caused an order |
| Customer experience | Questions and difficulty at specific stages | That all recipients used the card |
| Commercial outcome | Return-adjusted purchases, repeat behavior, and campaign costs | Causation without a suitable comparison |
Use consistent definitions
Define the numerator, denominator, audience, and time window for every rate. An access rate and a participation rate can look similar while referring to different groups.
Explain the decision and its uncertainty
An effective report states the result, comparison, relevant changes, and proposed next action. It also says what remains unknown.
