Tell the customer where they are
Messages should identify the store, relevant purchase, current outcome, and next step. If no action is needed, make that clear. If the result is not yet final, do not describe the benefit as ready to use.
| Customer question | Information to provide |
|---|---|
| Does my purchase qualify? | The campaign conditions and the current eligibility outcome |
| Do I need to do anything? | The applicable next step, or confirmation that no action is needed now |
| Where is the card? | The appropriate access information when available |
| Who can explain a problem? | A clearly identified support route for the question |
Keep messages connected to the store
A recognizable sender and consistent terminology help a Shopify customer connect a later incentive message to the original purchase. Explain any handoff to card instructions without suggesting that the merchant is the issuer.
Use questions as a design signal
Repeated questions about missing messages, unexpected conditions, or the next step indicate where communication needs improvement. Measure customer understanding and access separately from future sales.
