STRATEGY COMPARISON

Where the value can be used changes the proposition

Incentive describes why a benefit is offered. Gift card describes a category of value that may itself be used as an incentive. Compare the actual product and its terms, not two labels as though they were mutually exclusive.

Compare a purchase-linked card and a merchant gift card

The table describes categories, not a promise that a particular card format is available through Incentive Card X.

Start with customer usefulness

A customer planning another purchase from the same Shopify store may value store-specific credit differently from a customer making a one-off purchase. Ask what the intended audience can reasonably use and how clearly the benefit can be explained.

Keep the campaign economics separate

Evaluate both options against the same objective, accounting for their terms and costs. A card category cannot tell you the applicable expiration rules, recipient support arrangement, or total cost; those need product-specific documentation.

MAKE THE BRIEF SPECIFIC

Plan the Shopify incentive around a real customer action.

Bring the commercial objective, eligible purchase, customer promise, and unresolved operating questions. Start with the channel that fits your next step.
